Read Lucy in the City by Julie Dillemuth together! Read the book several more times throughout the month, and encourage the use of spatial vocabulary while trying some of these activities:
  • Use the maps inside the book to re-trace Lucy’s route!
  • Pretend your fingers are Lucy’s legs and run them up your arm. (Pg. 3)
  • Use your hands to flap like an owl and “fly” your hands up high. Now “fly” the owl down low. (Pg. 15-16)
  • Use the blank map to trace the path one block North and four blocks West. (Pg. 27-28)
