Directions: Lesson 7

Learning Center
  1. Suggest that children draw pictures of fantasy slides for a big playground or water park. As you circulate through the Learning Center, encourage children to describe their pictures. Possible discussion ideas:
    • Which part of the slide is the steepest? The gentlest?
    • If you were sliding or rolling down the slide, on which part would you go the fastest? Where would you slow down?
  2. Offer to write labels for sections of the picture: for example, Very steep. Not so steep. You go really fast here. You slow down here. If children wish, they can dictate a sentence about the picture for you to write.
